In 2010 and 2011, his activism with the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of theNational Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) resulted in the passing of Colorado Senate Bill 87 to allow for a PUC Medical Rate Exemption.”
This bill has been signed into law by Governor Hickenlooper and helps medically-sensitive persons better afford the costs of housing by giving the Public Utilities Commission the ability to exempt a home’s tiered rate plan created as a result of required high power consumption “based on a customer’s medical condition or use of an essential life-support device.” To date, the PUC is still working on the process and rules for the administration of this accommodation. |
